Are municipal ordinances on FCRA consumer reports?

I applied for a job and they state that they will be getting a third party consumer reporting agency to conduct a consumer background check. I do not have a criminal record but I did receive a municipal ordinance two years ago for shoplifting. The disclosure says:

Your consumer report, may include, but not be limited to, the following information: a credit report,

consistent with applicable federal, state and local laws, that includes obtaining

information on convictions and/or pending prosecutions; Department of Motor

Vehicles information; civil suits and judgments within the past seven (7) years;

accounts in collections within the past seven (7) years; and bankruptcies within

the past ten (10) years.”

It is a credit check. It will show convictions only and any defaults, such as late payments, which can stay on the reports for up to seven years. You can look what information is there on your own. It does not cost anything and you are entitled to one free report from each of the three credit companies absolutely free, once ever twelve months. Do not be tricked by the advertisers who advertise for “free report.” Those are subscription service. Call the number below or write to them. It is from the government website (FTC). You will have the option to look it over on the internet or receive hard copies. Can order by phone or in writing. You can also dispute any inaccurate information.

You can request your free report online, by phone or by mail. Visit AnnualCreditReport.com, call 1-877-322-8228, or fill out the Annual Credit Report Request form and mail it to Annual Credit Report Request Service, P.O. Box 105281, Atlanta, GA 30348-5281. No matter how you request your report, you have the option to request all three reports at once or to order one report at a time. By requesting the reports separately, you can monitor your credit more frequently throughout the year.
